Meet the Minister

 

 

 

Dr. Jitendra Singh has taken over the role of Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology, following the inclusion of the Ministry under the purview of the Prime Minister's Office. A physician by profession, Dr. Singh is widely recognized for his contributions to the fields of diabetes and endocrinology.

He has held various roles throughout his career — serving as a professor, consultant, clinical practitioner, and newspaper columnist. He is also the author of eight books and has formerly chaired the National Scientific Committee for Diabetes and the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India.

Dr. Singh holds an M.B.B.S. from Stanley Medical College, Chennai, and an M.D. from Government Medical College, Jammu. Among his published works are monographs on diabetes and the widely acclaimed Diabetes Made Easy, a bestseller at the World Book Fair. He has contributed chapters on diabetes to postgraduate medical textbooks and has been writing a popular weekly syndicated column, Tales of Travesty, for over 30 years.


In addition to his responsibilities in the Science and Technology Ministry, Dr. Singh also serves as Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, and is responsible for the Ministries of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, the Department of Atomic Energy, and the Department of Space.
