Secretary |
Secretary, DSIR is the administrative head of the Department and is the principal adviser to the Minister of State (Independent charge) for Science and Technology and Department of Ocean Development on all matters of policy and administration in DSIR. |

2. |
Joint Secretary (Admn) |
Joint Secretary, CSIR is holding the post of Joint Secretary of the Department on notional basis and exercises of the powers of Joint Secretary (Administration). He is the Chief Vigilance Officer and Grievance Officer for the Department . |

3. |
Financial Adviser |
The Financial Adviser, DSIR is exercising the delegated financial powers under the General Financial Rules. |

4. |
Director (Administration) |
There is no post of Director (Administration) in DSIR. At present a Scientific Officer is exercising the powers of the Head of the Department duly delegated by the Secretary. |

5. |
Scientists (B to G level) |
Scientific Officers at different level in DSIR deal with work related to policy making, formulation and implementation of plan schemes in the field of scientific and Industrial research. |
|
6. |
Under Secretary |
The Under Secretaries in DSIR look after, inter alia, work related to establishment and administration and carry out such functions as laid down in the manual on office procedure. |

7. |
Assistant Director (Official Language), Hindi Translator |
There is one officer in this Grade who with the support of Hindi translators look after the work related to implementation of Official Language Policy in the Department. |

8. |
Section Officers |
The Section Officers in DSIR are dealing with work related to Establishment and General Administration. They carry out such functions as laid down in the manual on office procedure. |
|
9. |
TA/JTA |
JTA and TA in DSIR assist the scientific officers of different level and attend to work such as preparation and production of specialized reports, programmes, brochures; collection, analysis, tabulation, presentation and dissemination of data ; assistance in arranging meetings, discussions, workshops, symposia, conferences for the Department.. |

10. |
Other staff such as Private Secretary, Stenographer, Assistant, UDC, LDC |
While the private secretaries and stenographers are attached to officers, the Assistants/UDCs/LDCs are posted in Sections. They carry out functions as laid down for them in the manual of office procedure. |

11. |
Staff Car Driver & Group `D’ staff (Dafftry, Peon & House Keeper) |
There is one staff car driver who drives the departmental car. Group ‘D’ staff are the supporting staff posted in Section or with officers or other wise attend to house keeping. |
