Technology/Process Description:
Samudra
Shipyard (P) Ltd., is primarily an ISO certified boat builder in India, which
designs, manufactures, supplies and services FRP boats up to 27 M length, for fishing/work/
tourism/patrol. Makes water sport equipment, marker buoys and other marine
related products. Over 55 plus different models are available starting from
3.82M single man Canoe to 27.5M 2 & 3 Bed Room Houseboats.

Shipyard has opened fresher insights into the making of a modern houseboat.
Earlier in the Kettuvallam(Type of Houseboat), the hull used to bear all the
weight. But with the most notable addition of the superstructure, the problem
of stability has come up. Safety too has been another problem all through.
Samudra's pioneering introduction of scientific design into its new-age
fibreglass houseboat tackles all these issues comprehensively. Running on an inboard
diesel engine, Samudra's fibreglass houseboat is the result of extensive R&D.
The hull is put through a tank-testing facility at the Department of Ocean
Engineering, IIT Chennai.

Samudra
Shipyard has been building boats for more than three decades. Currently, true
to its penchant for innovation, it is replacing wood with fiber glass while
making luxury houseboats. These scientifically designed and tested holiday cruise
boats have become a benchmark in modern-day boat building. This exotic barge
meant for leisure cruises comes with 2 and 3 attached bedrooms, modern toilets,
a snug living room, an open lounge and a kitchen. More than a house built to
float on water, it can actually be a cruise boat or a floating restaurant.

Samudra’s fibreglass
houseboats are open to customization to a large extent. For instance, a
cladding can be put on top, if needed.
And since it is modular, the boat can be easily converted into a hotel,
library or a dance floor.
Passenger Launch
Passenger launch is made
of displacement and semi-displacement vessels which are ideal for sea, river,
and backwaters. This sports the latest design and is highly stable with
outstanding sea-keeping qualities in the roughest of weather conditions. This
boat is highly fuel-efficient and
requires minimum horsepower for given speed.

Life Jackets These jackets are made of PVR and
Polyethylene foam. These are used for
fishing, day cruising, recreational boating, paddle sports & water
sports.
Product 7: FRP PUF Insulated
Containers
These are
ideal for transporting or storing perishables (hot or cold).These keep fish
fresh for days. These are highly thermal efficient ice boxes. These are
available from 50 L to 1000 L. Rigid PUF is used as insulator. The shell is
made of Composite FRP. Unlike rotomolded boxes this does not warp or buckle
under exposure to extreme sunlight. Standard hardware used is Stainless steel
hinges, Drain plug and Gun metal closer with locking facility. Used by fishing
boats, fish markets, retailers, meat vendors, Ice cream and Milk booths.
