Proposals Invited for DSIR TM Chairs [Last Date Extended to 30 September 2008]

The Technology Management Division invites proposals from institutes of technology and institutes of management for the setting up of DSIR Technology Management Chairs.

1. Institutes covering IITs, NITs, IIMs, Universities and other specialized Institutes are eligible to apply.
2. The focus of the Chair would be to give thrust to research and teaching in subjects pertaining to technology and innovation management.
3. The institution of the Chair could be used for the following:
   (a) conferring the title of ‘Chair Professor’
   (b) providing a grant for carrying out research in the focus area 
   (c) providing support to carry out specific activities to fulfill the charter laid out in an MoU to be signed between the institute and the TM Division DSIR.
4. The following details may be provided in the application:

• About the institute, its management, academic programmes and research activities, students and faculty, other relevant details
• Justification for seeking endowment for Chair in Technology Management
• Accreditation, ranking by reputed national and international agencies such as NBA (AICTE) - National Board of Accreditation, AIMA - All India Management Association, NAAC - National Assessment and Accreditation Council, and others; if any
• The order of financial support sought from DSIR.
• The period for which the DSIR support is proposed to be utilized. 
• A broad set of activities that are proposed to be taken up by the Chair which could cover one or more of the following:
  
  (i) Research in Innovation and Technology Management issues
  (ii) Case studies and other studies
  (iii) Development of other Pedagogic aids and tools
  (iv) Information dissemination on Innovation/Technology Management issues
  (v) Training programmes and workshops 
  (vi) Seminars and management development programmes for industry executives
  (vii) Entrepreneurship and leadership programmes 
  (viii) Training of trainers
  (ix) Development of a Portal on Innovation management
  (x) Any other area of Innovation/Technology Management related work of specific interest to the country/local region/institute. 
  
• A break up of estimates of expenses against the specific areas that would be taken up during the first year
• The details of provisions to be made and committed by the institute
• Format of MOU to be signed between the institute and the Technology Management Division DSIR to formalize the institution of the Chair.

5. A nominee of the Technology Management Division DSIR would be a member of the Selection Committee.
6. A suitable mechanism/committee would be put in place by the DSIR to guide and review the work undertaken by the Chair and such a committee would ordinarily meet twice in a year.
7. The Chair would be required to submit to the Technology Management Division, DSIR an annual report on the work undertaken during the year.
